Team Spirit in Albania  -  Day one

8th September 08

After the training session early on Sunday morning the team had to meet in the evening at the airport at 2100hrs. the sense of dejection was quite evident in the Maltese clan but it was now time to think about this Wednesday clash with the Albanians. Ivan Woods did not manage to make it after he slightly strained his hamstring during Saturday's match, and Andre Schembri was included in the squad.

National Coach Fitzel along with his both assistants Stritz and Camilleri where already preparing the clips for tomorrow's early session with the players reviewing their match play against the portuguese and the Albanian tactical play against the Swedes.
21:35Hrs Lift-off to Albania. In practically an hour we arrived in Tirana probably the captain was eager to go back to Valletta! I wonder why!
At night it was evident that the country is undergoing a lot of develpoment and this morning it was very evident that unemployment is rife in this country.
07:00Hrs and I am already raring to go. Shower and then off downstairs chatting with Carmelo Gauci more known as Busby. He is a humble person with his love of football showing in his dedication as a national team kit manager.
10:30Hrs We are in the city center touring and looking at the place. In Vittoriosa alone there is more historical places then the whole of Albania. On the other hand the people are very friendly and they speak perfect Italian.
11:30Hrs and the team is doing the video assesment of Saturday's match against Portugal. The Coach had plenty to remark about!
16:00Hrs We are off to the training grounds behind policemen who are trying to get us through the never ending traffic of the capital city. Dinamo Tirana's training ground is invaded by the team with every player clearly very attentive to what the coaches have to say.
19:00Hrs back to the hotel - traffic again!!

Fired-up Schembri tips Malta to raise game

"It's a pity that Andrè Schembri can't play," Dusan Fitzel, the Malta coach, told The Times on the eve of Saturday's World Cup 2010 home qualifier against Portugal.

"He has improved a lot since he went to play in Germany... Andrè has become an important player for us."

Long hailed as one of Malta's brightest football prospects, Schembri has been a permanent fixture in the national team for the last three years.

A red card in the 4-1 defeat to Norway in their final Euro 2008 qualifier last year meant that he was ineligible to face the Portuguese. The absence from such a lucrative match, left Schembri feeling frustrated but he's now raring to go as Malta step up their preparations for tomorrow's qualifier against Albania at the Qemal Stafa Stadium in Tirana.

"I was disappointed to miss out on Portugal but I'm now looking forward to the match against Albania," Schembri told The Times.

"I've been doing my utmost in training to show that I deserve to be in the starting line-up because my place in the team is not guaranteed."

A 4-0 upset in the opening qualifier can only have diminished Maltese morale and self-confidence but Schembri is sure that the team will raise their game against Albania.

"I know it's hard to be positive after a 4-0 defeat but I still think that Saturday's game was a very useful run-out for our team," Schembri remarked.

"I say this from experience because we tend to struggle to adapt to the high tempo of international football in our first competitive outing. Now that the team have been involved in a tough qualifier against one of the world's best teams, I'm optimistic that we will show an improvement in the second game.

"Two years ago we lost 5-2 at home to Bosnia before travelling to Frankfurt to face Turkey. At the time, everyone thought that Malta would suffer a heavy defeat but we only lost 2-0 to Turkey and our performance was satisfactory."

Despite his optimism, Schembri knows that Malta face another mammoth task to get something from Albania who started their qualifying trek with a goalless draw at home to Sweden.

"Albania have been making rapid progress in the last few years," Schembri, 22, commented.

"They have players in some of the top leagues in Europe, like the Serie A and Bundesliga. It's going to be another difficult match for us but nothing is impossible."

Schembri is one of only four foreign-based players in Malta's 18-man squad, the others being Michael Mifsud (Coventry City), Justin Haber (Sheffield United) and Etienne Barbara (SC Verle).

Schembri, formerly of Marsaxlokk, joined third division club Carl Zeiss Jena last summer after a one-year stint with Eintracht Braunschweig.

Schembri may not be playing at the top level of German football but, as Fitzel said, his career has clearly benefited from his switch to a professional club.

"Fitness-wise, I have become stronger since I moved to Germany," Schembri said.

"My attitude to football has also changed. When you're a professional footballer, you think and live in a professional way, that's the main difference I guess."

The Malta striker has settled in nicely at Carl Zeiss Jena.

"I'm happy at my new club," Schembri said.

"The main thing is that I'm now playing in my favourite position as a central striker. The championship we're in is very competitive especially after the organisers merged the south and north regional leagues.

"I've got a one-year contract with Jena. My ambition is to move to a bigger club in future and I think this league is a good stepping stone."

Malta squad in Tirana

The chartered Air Malta flight carrying the Malta FA contingent and around 40 other passengers, including some fans who joined a tour organised by Mondial Travel, touched down in Tirana in the early hours of yesterday.

Ivan Woods, a starter against Portugal, had to pull out of the squad after suffering a slight thigh injury on Saturday. His withdrawal spared Fitzel the 'awkward' decision of having to drop another player from his selection to make way for the returning Schembri.

Roderick Briffa hurt his right hand on Saturday but the injury will not prevent the Sliema player, deployed at right-back against Portugal, from lining up against Albania tomorrow.

Yesterday evening, the Maltese squad had their first practice session at the training grounds of local club Dinamo Tirana. This evening, they will train at the Qemal Stafa Stadium, venue of tomorrow's qualifier.

The referee of the match is Robert Schoergenhofer, from Austria.

GAME  REPORTS

Good performance, disappointing result

Photo by www.stephengatt.comThe 3-0 defeat to Albania was definitely a most disappointing result for Malta considering the performance of Dusan Fitzel's side at the Qemal Stafa Stadium in Tirana in a match from Group 1 of the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying round. More info

World Cup 2010

Tirana defeat piles the pressure on luckless Malta

Fitzel rues timing of Albania goals

A rare show of Maltese pride on the terraces of the Qemal Stafa Stadium in Tirana on Wednesday was matched by a spirited performance on the pitch but it was just not enough.

A sense of déjà vu is likely to have gripped the entire Maltese contingent as well as those who watch the national team frequently enough to know that the pattern of the midweek qualifier was painfully familiar.

The bottom line, of course, is that the Maltese side failed to deliver for the umpteenth time and questions will always be asked about our national team's perpetual struggles to avoid heavy defeats against better teams but, in Albania's case, certainly not a top-tier one.

Malta will always remain Malta, a miniscule footballing nation with a narrow pool of players and a poor domestic league, not to mention the generally amateurish organisation of our clubs, all engaged in a continuous battle to make ends meet.

Yet, a couple of positive results in the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign had raised optimism of sustained improvement by our national team and there were spells in Tirana when our players produced some flowing football as they pressed for an equaliser.

"Prosit," Fatos Daja, the St Patrick and Ħamrun Spartans' former Albanian defender told goalkeeper Justin Haber, one of Malta's better players on Wednesday, at the airport in Tirana in the early hours of yesterday.

Daja also felt compelled to congratulate the other players.

"Well done, I'm genuinely impressed by the improvement of the Maltese team," he added.

"You tried to play positive football and you were tactically organised on the pitch."

Finding positives after a 3-0 defeat was not easy, especially as it came hot on the heels of a 4-0 drubbing to Portugal the previous weekend. Malta have thus suffered seven goals in their opening two qualifiers and scored none, a statistic not lost on Dusan Fitzel.

In his post-match analysis the coach offered some interesting perspectives on Maltese football and the national team.

"We are having problems concluding our attacks," Fitzel observed. "There were moments during the game when our players managed to keep possession and even got the ball into the opponents' box but they didn't know what to do next. The final ball let us down."

Although pleased with the team's valiant but ultimately fruitless efforts not to finish empty-handed, Fitzel lamented the laid-back attitude that is prevalent among Maltese players.

"For these players, football still means fun, they don't see it as a hard job," Fitzel remarked.

"This mentality makes it more difficult because my work to improve things doesn't pay off most of the time."

Albania's tactical strategy held no surprises for the Malta coach.

"I knew this game would be difficult for us but Albania played as we had expected them to and we were prepared for this kind of approach," Fitzel said.

"We looked better than against Portugal but conceding a goal just before half-time was a huge psychological blow.

"That said, I was pleased with my team's performance for most of the second half. I think the players showed their character."

Fitzel rued the manner and timing of Albania's second and third goals in the final five minutes of the match.

"I'm very disappointed about their second and third goals," Fitzel said.

"Albania's second goal came at a time when we were pushing hard for an equaliser."

Fitzel made three changes from the team that lost 4-0 to Portugal as the returning Andrè Schembri replaced Terrence Scerri, Etienne Barbara filled the void left by the injured Ivan Woods and Aaron Xuereb got the nod ahead of the experienced Brian Said in defence.

"I decided to make those changes because I felt that these players would help make the team look more aggressive," Fitzel said.

"Said is getting older and I have to start looking for alternatives. That's why I named Xuereb in the starting team. He committed a couple of mistakes early on but improved as the game progressed."

Fitzel also rebuffed claims that the Maltese played rough after a series of abrasive challenges, especially in the second half, infuriated the Albanians.

"I don't think we were over-aggressive," Fitzel said.

"In the end, it's the referee who decides on these matters and he cautioned three of their players and only one from our team."

Having voiced his displeasure at the team's meek surrender to Portugal, Fitzel ought to have been satisfied with the feisty showing in Tirana but it is clear that commitment alone will not win Malta points.

Fitzel has shown that he's a very bright coach with an ability to make the most of the resources at his disposal but his demeanour in the last week suggests a man that has not yet come to terms with the complexities of Maltese football.

The Czech is a demanding man and like everyone else, he hates to lose but a more positive mindset could have an equally positive effect on the players, especially ahead of next month's qualifiers away to Denmark and at home to Hungary.

As for the players, these two defeats will hopefully increase their motivation to raise their standards, and not just when they pull on the national team's shirt.

We also want to see the same commitment from all the players when they train and play for their clubs.

Loghba ta' kwalifikazzjoni ghat-Tazza tad-Dinja 2010:
Albanija...3 Malta...0
- Riżultat giddieb f’wirja pożittiva għat-tim Malti

minn Rodney Vassallo minn Tirana bil-kollaborazzjoni ta' KASCO

Għal darb’oħra t-tim nazzjonali Malti tilef bl-iskor ta’ 3-0 fl-Albanija, riżultat ripetut wara li ftit iktar minn 12-il xahar ilu f’logħba ta’ ħbiberija f’Tirana wkoll, sofrejna tlieta mingħand l-Albanija.

Ir-riżultat żgur mhux mistħoqq għat-tim Malti li qasam il-logħob għal ħafna mill-ħinijiet sakemm sfaxxajna appena ġie skorjat it-tieni gowl fl-84 minuta, f’ħin fejn konna qed nagħmlu l-isforzi kollha biex inġibu d-draw, li kieku ġie ma konna nkunu sraqna xejn.

Reġa’ kellu jkun gowl sekondi qabel tmiem l-ewwel taqsima li kkundizzjoni l-partita favur l-avversarji. Żball ta’ Andre Schembri wassal għat-tieni gowl Albaniż, li ssiġillaw ir-rebħa minn azzjoni ta’ korner fid-90 minuta.

Fil-verità t-tim Malti kellu wirja tajba, fejn attakkajna, ipprovajna noħolqu l-okkażjonijiet u żammejna pusses tajjeb tal-ballun, u dan minkejja li l-attakkanti ftit li xejn kienu f’vena tajba.

Michael Mifsud ftit kien effettiv, Etienne Barbara u Cleaven Frendo li lagħbu taqsima kull wieħed ftit għamlu differenza, waqt li għal ħinijiet twal Andre Schembri kien ordnat jilgħab fuq il-linja fejn kellu jkopri għall-ispazji li jħalli Shaun Bajada biex kien f’waħda minn dawn iċ-ċirkostanzi meta l-attakkant ta’ Carl Zeiss Jena għen fid-difiża li tfixxkilna fil-ġid u qlajna t-tieni gowl li eventwalment wassal għat-tielet gowl.

Kienet logħba li reġgħet uriet kif il-Maltin qed ibatu mentalment fejn mhumiex qed ikunu kapaċi jirkupraw meta jaqilgħu gowl fl-aħħar. Ġara mal-Portugall is-Sibt u reġa’ ġara l-istess il-bieraħ.

Fl-ewwel taqsima l-Maltin kienu pożittivi fejn f’mumenti kienu anke superjuri mill-avversarji fejn bi ftit aktar attenzjoni stajna skorjajna li kieku ma għaġġilnix meta ġejna għal pass jew il-konklużjoni finali, biex bħalma ġara kemm il-darba sofrejna l-gowl fl-aħħar sekondi tat-taqsima.

Apparti dan in-nuqqas ta’ attenzjoni mit-tim Malti fl-aħħar sekondi, fl-ewwel 45 minuta rajna titjib sostanzjali mill-Maltin.

Il-kowċ Dusan Fitzel wettaq tliet bidliet fl-ewwel ħdax għat-tim Malti. Aaron Xuereb, l-ewwel test importanti għalih, daħal minflok Brian Said, An-dre Schembri irritorna wara li kien sospiż mal-Portugall, għalkemm beda f’pożizzjoni nsolita fuq il-linja xellugija minflok Ivan Woods u Etienne Barbara li beda fl-attakk, li iżda wara n-nofs siegħa bidel il-pożizzjoni ma Andre Schembri. Barbara iżda ftit li xejn kellu serata brillanti biex għat-tieni taqsima nbidel minn Cleaven Frendo.

Min-naħa Albaniża, dawn bdew b’seba plejers mill-ewwel ħdax li jilagħbu barra l-pajjiż fosthom, l-attakkant Erjon Bogdani fis-Serie A ma’ Chievo, tlieta fil-Ġermanja, apparti l-gowlkiper Arjan Beqaj li dan l-istaġun se jilgħab fil-gruppi taċ-Champions League ma’ Anorthosis Famagusta.

Partita li kitbet paġna ġdida fl-istorja tal-futbol Malti bil-preżenza ta’ iktar minn mitt partitarju li telgħu b’inizjattiva tas-South End Core li ma waqfux jinċitaw lil Malta tul id-90 minuta apparti li ġibdu s-simpatija tal-Albaniżi tul il-jum li qattgħu iduru fis-sħana tal-kapitali Tirana.

Il-logħba bdiet bl-Albaniżi offensivi fejn bdew jitfgħu ħafna blalen fuq il-plejer tas-Serie A Bogdani li fil-ħames minuta niżżel tajjeb bir-ras lejn Jahmir Hyka li iżda minn pożizzjoni ideali quddiem Haber xeħet barra.

Fl-10 minuta l-Maltin kienu perikolużi b’inizjattiva ta’ Jamie Pace li reġa’ rċieva fil-kaxxa mingħand Gilbert Agius, bil-kross ta’ Pace li ġie mblukkat f’korner, li minnu l-istess Jamie Pace ikkonkluda ftit barra. Mal-ħin il-Maltin bdew jieħdu iktar kunfidenza fejn it-tqassim beda jkun tajjeb. Il-plejers Maltin bdew isibu lil xulxin u bdew jilagħbu l-futbol b’Roderick Briffa, Kevin Sammut u Jamie Pace l-aħjar plejers Maltin fl-ewwel taqsima.

Fit-22 minuta ħloqna periklu ieħor meta reġa’ kien Briffa li avvanza, ta through pass meqjus lejn Michael Mifsud li iżda kien antiċipat mill-gowlkiper Albaniż. Wara bidla tattika mill-kowċ Malti fejn daħħal lil Andre Schembri bħala punta u ressaq lil Barbara fuq il-linja xellugija, fid-39 minuta bi bravura Justin Haber antiċipa lil Bogdani wara kross insidjuż ta’ Almend Dallku.

Il-Maltin reġgħu kienu perikolużi fl-44 minuta, din id-darba jkun il-gowlkiper Albaniż Beqaj li salva b’ċerta diffikultà fuq konklużjoni devjata minn barra l-kaxxa ta’ Jamie Pace, biex l-istorja rrepetiet ruħha meta ħsibna li se nagħlu l-ewwel taqsima fi draw, iżda nuqqas ta’ attenzjoni ppermettiet kross ta’ Dallku, biex żmarkat ERJON BOGDANI għeleb faċilment lil Haber u tefa’ fir-rokna tax-xibka.

Fil-ftuħ tat-tieni taqsima s-sostitut Frendo beda bħala l-unika punta, warajh Michael Mifsud biex Schembri reġa’ rtira fil-pożizzjoni oriġinali tiegħu ta’ winger xellugi.

Il-partitarji Albaniżi komplew bl-inċitament lejn il-plejers tagħhom, mhux b’inqas il-partitarji Maltin li għalkemm f’minoranza l-vuċi tagħhom xorta kienet qed tinstema. Fis-57 minuta, l-Albanija resqu viċin it-tieni gowl meta kien hemm kross ieħor perikoluż ta’ Dallku, iżda l-mira ta’ Hyka bħal ma ġara fil-ftuħ tal-partita reġgħet falliet għal ftit.

Fit-80 minuta kien hemm save kbir tipiku ta’ Justin Haber li minn taħtu salva bi bravura u klassi x-xutt b’saħħtu iżda ċentrali ta’ Duro, biex erba’ minuti wara Haber ma seta’ jagħmel xejn meta Schembri tfixxkel taħtu u KLODIAN DURO approfitta.

Hawnhekk il-Maltin marru l-baħar psikoloġikament u l-Albaniżi setgħu jixxalaw fejn sabu t-tielet gowl minn azzjoni ta’ korner, biex l-aħjar plejer tagħhom ALMEND DALLKU bir-ras ma ta l-ebda ċans lil Haber isalva.

Telfa ta’ 3-0 f’Tirana fejn għalkemm rajna titjib mill-plejers Maltin li ħaqqhom prosit għall-isforz kollettiv tagħhom, min-naħa l-oħra jridu jaħdmu ħafna qabel il-konfront doppju tax-xahar id-dieħel kontra l-Ungerija u d-Danimarka f’Copenhagen.

L-għada tat-telfa Maltija kontra l-Albanija ...

minn Rodney Vassallo

L-għada tat-telfa Maltija kontra l-Albanija l-atmosfera tal-kontinġent tat-tim nazzjonali xejn ma kienet feliċi.

Il-plejers Maltin flimkien mal-kontinġent ħallew Tirana ftit ħin wara l-partita, bl-ajruplan charter ta’ l-Air Malta li ħalla l-kapitali Albaniża ftit wara s-2.15 a.m. ta’ fil-għodu u wasal Malta għall-ħabta tat-3.30 a.m. tal-bieraħ fil-għodu.

Il-wirja tat-tim Malti kienet waħda sodisfaċenti, izda mhux l-istess jista’ jingħad għar-ri-żultat mhux l-istess.

Fil-ġurnali tal-bieraħ wieħed seta’ jinnota li nazzonijiet tal-livell tagħna, bħal Lussemburgu u Liechenstein kisbu riżultati prestiġġjużi, allura l-argument li għalkemm tlifna xorta lgħabna tajjeb m’għadux ireġi u ftit għadu jikkonvinċi lill-eluf li jsegwu u jħobbu lil dan it-tim nazzjonali.

Wara t-tisfira finali eżatt kif sofrejna t-tielet gowl, il-kowċ nazzjonali Dusan Fitzel ta kon-ferenza ta’ l-aħbarijiet, fejn an-tiċipa li kienet se tkun partita diffiċli minħabba li f’dawn l-aħħar snin il-futbol Albaniż għamel progress sostanzjali fil-qasam internazzjonali.

Tkellem ukoll dwar it-tibdil tattiku li kellu jagħmel u kif jinsab imħasseb bl-attakanti tiegħu hekk kif kemm Michael Mifsud u anke Andrè Schembri xejn ma huma fil-forma ta’ l-istaġun li għadda.

Huwa deher diżappuntat li għall-fatt qed noħolqu ċ-ċansijiet u anke ngawdu pussess tal-ballun għal ħinijiet twal, kif għamilna fil-partita kontra l-Albanija u sa ċertu punt matul l-ewwel taqsima kontra l-Portguall, xorta qed insibuha diffiċli biex nersqu lejn il-lasti avversarji.

Fitzel ikkritika l-livell tal-Kampjonat Malti u stieden ukoll ġurnalist Albaniż biex xi darba jiġi fostna u jara l-livell medjokri u tad-daħk tal-Kampjonat Malti.

Mistoqsijiet qamu dwar il-bidliet tattiċi tal-kowċ mir-Repubblika Ċeka, diskuttibbli kif plejer, attakkant pur bħal Andrè Schembri fil-logħba ma’ l-Albanija biddel l-irwol tliet darbiet, beda fuq il-linja xellugija, daħal fl-attakk u meta Cleaven Frendo daħal flok Etienne Barbara għamel il-wisgħa lil Frendo fl-attakk u reġa’ rritorna fl-irwol solitament ta’ Ivan Woods li iżda kien nieqes mill-vjaġġ lejn l-Albanija.

Fuq nota pożittiva, kien x’kien ir-riżultat, l-Albanizi stess li tkellimna magħhom wara l-partita ammettew li r-riżultat kien giddieb u meta wieħed jara l-partita d-distakk ta’ tliet gowls bejn iż-żewġ timijiet kien esa-ġerat.

Iva kien hemm titjib fil-wirja mil-logħba mal-Portugall. Il-Maltin ippruvaw joħolqu, il-koordinazzjoni kienet tajba u dehret ċerta kunfidenza nsolita għal-logħbiet away, li iżda, sfortunatament sfaxxat fl-aħħar ħinijiet appena qlajna t-tieni gowl.

Fost il-plejers li spikkaw għal Malta, fis-sħana ta’ Tirana nsibu lil Roderick Briffa, Kevin Sammut, Gilbert Agius u Jamie Pace, waqt li Justin Haber ukoll kien deċiżiv lejn l-aħħar meta sħabu sfaxxaw psikoloġikament u fiżikament u kien il-gowlkiper ta’ Sheffield United li salvana minn dik li setgħet spiccat f’umiljazzjoni nġusta.

Wieħed jawgura li ssir analiżi serja qabel il-logħbiet mpenjattivi x-xahar id-dieħel, f’Ta’ Qali, kontra l-Ungerija, fil-kesħa ta’ Copenhagen kontra d-Danimarka, li nhar l-Erbgħa kisbu r-riżultat tas-serata fl-Ewropa meta rebħu 3-2 fil-Portugall li min-naħa tagħhom kienu għadhom ġejjin minn rebħa faċli f’Malta ta’ 4-0, nhar is-sibt li għadda.

Football – 2010 World Cup qualifier: Late goals condemn Malta to a harsh defeat against Albania

Albania - Malta 3-0

Malta suffered the second consecutive defeat yesterday in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers in Tirana, beaten by Albania 3-0.

It must be said that the result is rather harsh on the local lads who played a gallant match, and suffered two late goals during the locals’ last ditch efforts to save the match.

Malta still smarting from last Saturday’s opaque performance against mighty Portugal, played a confident game, and the Albanians were not dangerous in front of goal.

The Maltese were rather unlucky to concede a goal just before the break through a Bogdani header.

In the second half Malta were dominant in some stages of the match but failed to be dangerous in the opposing penalty area.

Maybe that was Malta’s weak point yesterday, even though Dusan Fitzel had the likes of Michael Mifsud, Etienne Barbara, who was substituted by Cleavon Frendo in the second half, and Andre Schembri.

After only four minutes Albania missed a sitter when Bogdani nodded down towards the completely unmarked Duro who shot incredibly wide with only Justin Haber to beat.

Malta's first attempt at goal came on nine minutes when Jamie Pace's shot on the turn from a Kevin Sammut corner missed the target. On 20 minutes Michael Mifsud beat Albania's offside trap but was blocked in time by the Albanian goalkeeper just outside the box.

Albania enjoyed territorial superiority, but they were never dangerous in front of goal, with Haber only called in action to intercept some dangerous crosses.

The Maltese pressed well in midfield but could not penetrate in attack with Michael Mifsud's runs always blocked by the Albanian defence.

Just before the break a well orchestrated move by the Maltese was finished off by Jamie Pace's shot from the edge of the area, but the Albanian goalkeeper saved well.

But in injury time Albania forged ahead when Bogdani unmarked in front of Haber headed home from close range.

Malta started the second half on a positive note with Andre Schembri failing to control the ball after an impressive Luke Dimech run. On 56 minutes Hyka missed an easy chance in front of goal with the ball going inches wide.

On the hour Bogdani had the better of Luke Dimech but his shot hit the side netting from an acute angle. Twelve minutes from time Justin Haber effected the best save of the match when he saved a point blank shot from Duro.

Two minutes later Malta went close when Michael Mifsud's shot was blocked by a defender and Cleavon Frendo's lob went slightly over the bar.

Seven minutes from time, almost against the run of play Albania doubled the score with a soft goal when Andre Schembri failed to clear the ball and Duro was on hand to beat Haber from close range.

The Maltese were now a demoralised lot and Haber effected another great save off a Berisha shot by turning into a corner. From the resultant corner Dallku headed home the third goal.
